Jammu and Kashmir police today claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of fraudsters with the arrest of its six members from Samba district who duped people on the pretext of selling a "supernatural material".

Six members of the gang were arrested in a raid at a guest house in Samba district for duping people of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of selling some supernatural material called 'Trattgola', a police spokesperson said.

"They claimed that 'Trattgola' had appeared during lightning in the skies and was valued in crores of rupees in the international market," he said.

The arrested accused were identified as Mohd Imran of Lucknow, Jagdish Kataria of Himachal Pradesh, Parshotam Goswami and Rakesh Kumar of Uttar Pradesh and Kamal Kapoor and Munish Kumar of Delhi, he said.

One Parshotam Lal, a resident of Samba district, had lodged a complaint with the police that the accused duped him to the tune of Rs five lakh on the pretext of giving 'Trattgola', he said.

He further alleged that they were going to take more money from him and hand him the "supernatural" material.

On questioning, the accused revealed that they had no such substance, but were using its name to dupe gullible people, the spokesperson said.

Based on Parshotam's complaint, an FIR has been registered at Samba Police station under various sections of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), he added.
