New industrial units will begin production in Madhya Pradesh in next six months, said Industries Minister Rajendra Shukla here today even as he denied that note ban has derailed investments in the state.

"Post-demonetisation is a temporary phase and thus conclusion shouldn't be drawn over its effects. Industrial units with huge investment are going to start production in next four to six months in Madhya Pradesh," Shukla, who also happens to be Commerce Minister told reporters after inaugurating Industrial Engineering Expo 2017 here.

Besides, he said that construction of food processing unit of Patanjali Ayurved promoted by Yoga guru Ramdev at Pithampur in Dhar district, is going to be taken up shortly.

He said that the construction work of Hindustan Coca Cola beverage unit in Hoshangabad district and Cadila Pharmaceuticals Limited's factory in Jhabua district is expected to begin soon as well.

The Industries Minister said that MP exports were Rs 40,000 crore annually adding that to enhance it the state has demanded from the Centre an air cargo facility at Indore.

He said the state has also demanded a reserved cargo point at Jawaharlal Nehru port in Navi Mumbai for shipping goods manufactured in MP, abroad.

"Demonetisation has put a check on black money, which is going to rev up government revenue collection. And this will enable government to give a fillip to development," Shukla said.

Dismissing Congress' charge that junking of old high denomination currency notes has curtailed employment generation avenues by 28 per cent, Shukla said the allegations made by the Opposition were baseless.

They were opposing demonetisation due to political compulsion, he contended.

He said that under the previous Congress regime (before 2003), the state was considered as BIMARU (laggard).
