Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today greeted the people of the state on the eve of Kheer Bhawani mela, saying the festival is a shining example of communal harmony and brotherhood.
"The festival is a shining example of communal harmony and brotherhood, which are the hallmark of the glorious pluralistic ethos of Jammu and Kashmir for centuries past," an official spokesman quoted the Governor as having said.
The spokesman said the Governor prayed for peace, harmony, progress and prosperity of the state.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also felicitated the people especially Kashmiri Pandits on the occasion, to be celebrated tomorrow.
The Kheer Bhawani mela has over the years become a source of reunion for Kashmiri Pandits following their mass exodus from the Valley in the wake of eruption of militancy in early 1990s.
