J-K Police gives Rs 4 lakh relief to grenade blast victim

Jammu and Kashmir Police today provided relief of Rs four lakh to the family of an ice-cream vendor who was killed in a grenade attack by militants in Anantnag early this year.

Abdul Jabbar Wagay (45) was killed and several others were injured in a grenade blast at Ganjiwara area of Anantnag on May 27, depriving the destitute family of their only bread earner, a police spokesman said here.

The deceased is survived by a handicapped widow and two teenage daughters, the spokesman said.

He said the police took the initiative to provide the family welfare relief so that the future of the family is secured and to compensate the unbearable loss at the hands of the terrorists.
