Jail inmate commits suicide in Rajasthan

A man serving one year jail term after being convicted in a cheque dishonour case, allegedly committed suicide in the toilet of prisoners' ward in New Medical College hospital here today, an official said.

Nawab Pathan (32), an inmate of Kota central jail, was admitted to the hospital on March 27 as he was suffering from some ailments. This afternoon, he was found hanging at the toilet, Jailor Yogesh Kumar Teiji said.

Pathan was convicted in the cheque dishonour case this January, the official said.

No suicide note was found. A case has been registered in the matter and postmortem would be conducted tomorrow, Teiji said.
