A senior Jalandhar Improvement Trust official was today beaten up by a group of persons when he went to evict certain shopkeepers who had encroached on the Trust's property.
Police said that two persons, identified as Ratnesh Kumar and Inder Singh, have been arrested for allegedly attacking JIT executive engineer Yogwinder Singh.
The search is on for another three unknown assailants, police added.
Yogwinder had gone to the city's No.9 Basti in the morning to remove illegal shops when the incident took place. The official sustained some injuries in the attack for which he has received treatment, police said.
