A team from Japan visited India earlier this month as part of the continued technical cooperation between the two countries in the field of rail safety, an official statement said today.
The team comprised representatives of Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and railway operators, the statement by the railway ministry said.
Th team, on its second visit to the country, visited the Indian Railway's coach, wagon, loco maintenance facilities, and observed rail welding and track maintenance practises.
The Japanese team on its earlier visit in January had assessed incidents of rail breakage and suggested measures to improve safety in train operations.
A Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on railway safety was signed on February 17, 2017 between the Ministry of Railways, Government of India (GoI) and MLIT, Japan.
