JK cop dies as service rifle which went off accidentally

A policeman today died after he was hit by a bullet from his own service rifle which went off accidentally in south Kashmir's Pulwama district, police said.

Head Constable Sanjay Sharma was on duty in Pulwama town, 32 km from here, when his service rifle went off accidentally, resulting in critical injuries to him, they said.

Sharma was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.
