Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, have approved a scholarship scheme for BSc Nursing students of SMVD College in Reasi district.
This scheme has been introduced to inculcate competitive spirit among the
students and provide financial assistance to the meritorious as well as poor students to enable them to pursue the course, an official spokesperson said.
This scheme, titled 'Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Nursing Scholarship Scheme', will benefit 24 students, three each under the merit and merit-cum-means categories, year wise for four years.
Each selected student will get tuition fee waiver of 100 per cent, 75 per cent and 50 per cent amounting to Rs 40,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000, respectively, in each academic year on the basis of her inter-se merit among the first three positions in the previous two semesters of the 2nd, 3rdand 4th academic years, the spokesperson said.
The amount of scholarship will be directly credited into the bank account of the selected student, he said.
