Residents of Wuyan village in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district today held a protest demanding removal of an army camp that has been set up there recently.

The protesters blocked road demanding that the bunkers and tents pitched by the Army on the land belonging to Public Health engineering Department be removed, officials said.

The protesters threatened to launch an agitation if the camp is not removed, they said.

Meanwhile, PDP MLA from the area Zahoor Ahmad Mir asked the government to immediately remove the Army camp in Wuyan.

"The government on one hand claims return of normalcy and decline in militancy but on the other hand new (security) camps are being established in the peaceful areas, causing inconvenience to general public," he said.

Mir also met the army officials and urged them to take necessary action regarding removal of the camp.
