A lady doctor at a private health clinic here was arrested today on the charges of carrying out medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) illegally, police said.
Following a tip-off, a joint team of district administration and health department officials, conducted a raid at 'Chaudhary Clinic' and arrested Dr Manju Chaudhary after laying a trap.
The team sent a dummy customer to the doctor who convinced her for MTP in lieu of Rs 10,000, police said, adding Chaudhary was caught while performing the illegal work and Rs 10,000 recovered from her possession.
The accused doctor was arrested under the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, police said, adding the team recovered medicine and equipment used in terminating pregnancy and sealed the facility.
