Amid pick up in demand at the domestic spot market, lead prices edged higher by 0.81 per cent to Rs 155.90 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions.

In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in far-month June rose by Rs 1.25, or 0.81 per cent to Rs 155.90 per kg in business turnover of 7 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in May was trading higher by Rs 1.15, or 0.74 per cent to Rs 155.60 per kg in 452 lots.

Market analysts said widening of positions by traders following pick-up in demand from battery makers in the physical market, mainly attributed the rise in lead prices at futures trade.
