Left women's organisations submit memorandum against Dev's

Left women's organisations in West Bengal has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer following a controversial remark by Bengali actor Dev, a Trinamool Congress candidate.

Dev had reportedly said that joining the election fray was like getting raped, eliciting criticism from women's rights activists and opposition parties.

The actor had later apologised and said that he did not want to offend anyone.

The memorandum was submitted to the CEO Sunil Gupta yesterday by Minati Ghosh of the All India Democratic Women's Association and other Left women's organisations.
