A murder convict, serving life

sentence in the Bareilly Central Jail, died today following illness, the Uttar Pradesh Home Department said.

Mahesh Singh, convicted in a 2009 murder case, was being taken to KGMU hospital in Lucknow for treatment when his condition deteriorated on the way.

He was rushed to a hospital in Sitapur where he died, the Home Department said.

The body had been sent for post mortem, it said.
