Maha govt contemplating self-defence training for women

Maharashtra government is planning to introduce a self-defence training programme for women.
Women and Child Welfare department is holding talks with a leading media group and a self-defence training institute for this purpose.
Department officials said the media group had proposed that it will share the financial burden of the course with the government.
Women and Child Welfare Minister Varsha Gaikwad told PTI that the initiative is at a preliminary stage of discussion. "I have asked for a detailed proposal," she said.
