"Intensive poultry development blocks will be set up in 14 districts on a PPP basis," an official in the Chief Minister's Office said.

The Cabinet also approved a proposal to start "Tejaswini", a bus service only for women in five municipal corporation areas - Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan- Dombivali and Nagpur.

The decision to provide autonomy has been taken to ensure that coordination with various private parties can be done to formulate professional courses aimed at employment generation.

The move will help in bringing about changes in the curriculum, said the official.

In order to make the changes the institution needs to be given administrative financial and educational autonomy, he added.

A 'Board of Governance' will have to be set up which will be headed by an educationist in the field of architecture or a noted artist.

The board will take decisions regarding quality of curriculum, infrastructure, education among other things, the official added.

The Cabinet note cited the example of College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP) which, after becoming autonomous has expanded its courses, industrial tie-ups and programmes.
