Maharashtra governor asks officials to implement PESA Act

Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayan has asked senior officials to implement the Panchayat Eaj Extension to Scheduled Area (PESA) Act at a meeting of senior officials of Nashik district today.

The governor reviewed implementation of forest rights and PESA Act with senior officials including the governor's secretary Vikaschandra Rastogi, Deputy Secretary Parimal Sinh, Acting Divisional Revenue Commissioner Sanjay Khandare, Acting Collector Bhanudas Palve and others.

Acting Collector Bhanudas Palve told the meeting that 46,072 proposals to manage forest rights at the village level were received, out of which 45,630 proposals have been granted permission.
