Man dies after slipping from footboard of train

A 24-year-old manwas killed on the spot when he slipped from the footboard of an express train near Sri Vaikuntam in the district today.

Police said the man, a welder, was sitting on the footboard of Tiruchendur-Chennai Express train when he lost his balance, fell on the track and suffered grievious head injuries.

The man was returning to Alampatt near Tirumangalam near Madurai when he fell, they said.
