Man dies in coal mine in Burdwan

The body of a man was recovered from the pit of a closed coal mine at Sarishatala in this district, police said today.

The man, who had gone into the pit allegedly to steal coal, died when a chunk of earth fell on him last night, a police official said.

The identity of the man is yet to be ascertained, he said.
