Man dies of burns, wife hospitalised

A 53-year old man died of burns and his wife sustained serious burn injuries, as their hut in Thoppapalayam on the outskirts caught fire in the wee hours of today.

Both Selvaraj and his wife Marathal (45) were sleeping, when the hut caught fire in the early hours, police said.

Hearing their screams, some in the neighbourhood rescued them and got admitted to the Government Hospital.

However, Selavaraj succumbed to burns this morning and Marathal is being reated there.
