A man was today sentenced to three years imprisonment by a court in Tenkasi for chopping a finger of a hotel worker following a quarrel over non- payment of bill in 2009.

Principal Assistant Sessions Judge Shanthi Chezhian convicted Sudalaikani and ordered him to undergo three years rigorous imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on him.

According to the prosecution, the victim Madhanmanickam had reprimanded Sudalaikani and two others for not paying after eating in the hotel at Nallur Kasiapuram in the district, leading to a quarrel between them.

A few days later after the quarrel, Sudalaikani attacked Madhanamanickam in Alangukuam, which resulted in the victim losing of a finger.
