Puri Seer slams media for misinterpretation of his comments

Press Trust of India Ranchi
Puri Shankaracharya Nischalanand Saraswati today categorically denied that he had said dalits should not enter temples.

Denying that he had not made any such comments, the Puri seer alleged that the "media's role had become to create sensationalism instead of working in the interest of the society."

Local media today quoted him of having said that Sanatan religion "barred entry" of dalits in temples.

In Indian tradition, he said, no one can be discriminated because "the Sanatan dharma says people of all varnas are of the same body."

He claimed that there was no place for hate in Indian tradition, but discrimination was there.

Wondering how could he make wrong comments on "four varnas" (some interpret as four castes while other experts interpret it as sections), the seer said Sanatan dharma has become limited to a few people, allegedly spreading delusions and casteism.
