Man held for trying to smuggle banned drug to Malaysia

A man was arrested at the airport here today for allegedly trying to smuggle 28 kg of a banned drug to Malaysia.

Customs officials found Thangakani Mohammed carrying ephedrine, used as a stimulant, in a registered package and arrested him, sources at the airport said.

The consignment is worth around Rs 28 lakh in the international market, they added.

In a separate incident at the airport, one Sahul Hameed was detained for interrogation after he was found carrying 55 kgs of sandalwood in his check-in luggage.
