Police apprehended a 30-year-old man from Solapur for allegedly betting on last night's IPL final match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Crime Branch and Economic Offences Wing raided a hotel in Jawaharnagar locality of the city and arrested Sanjay Taker, a resident of Solapur in Western Maharashtra, police said today.

He was allegedly betting on the IPL final match. Rs 15,200 in cash, a laptop, a diary containing cellphone numbers of "some important people" in Central Maharashtra and documents related to financial transactions were seized from him, they said.

A tight vigil is being maintained on betting activities ever since the IPL spot-fixing scandal came to light, police said.

In mid-April, a few days after the sixth edition of the lucrative league kicked-off, Jawaharnagar police had detained two suspected bettors but they were later released.
