Man injured in celebratory firing

The father of a bridgegroom got critically injured today when he accidentally fired at himself during an engagement ceremony in Dadri area here.

The ceremony was going on in Ayodhya Ganj colony here when Lakshmi Narain Verma took out his rifle and fired a shot in joy hitting himself, police said.

He was rushed to Yashoda hospital where doctors operated on him and removed the bullet. His condition was stated to be critical.

Circle Officer Anurag Singh said that celebratory firing is banned and arms licence cancellation proceedings will be initiated.
