Man 'kills self' after 'setting baby son on fire' in Nadia

A man allegedly killed himself after reportedly setting ablaze his baby son at Haringhata in Nadia district.

The neighbours of Ramesh Mandi ( 39) of Haringhata Balindi found through window that he and his son Paban (2 years old) were in flames and broke open the bolted door, a police officer said quoting neighbours.

Both were rushed to Haringhata Primary Hospital at Bara Jaguli and doctor declared both brought dead .

Shilita Mandi, the wife of Ramesh, was informed of the incident and rushed back from her hospital duty as staff.

The officer said quoting preliminary probe, Ramesh took the extreme step due to depression for economic reasons and set himself ablaze, the officer said.
