Marandi criticises Land Acquisition Bill

Press Trust of India Jamshedpur
Criticising the Land Acquisition Bill, which was recently passed in the Parliament, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) (Prajatantrik) today said that it would make the state's poor tribals vulnerable.

"Land is the only source of livelihood for the tribal masses in Jharkhand and this Bill will snatch away their bread and butter," JVM President Babulal Marandi said today.

"Besides, the price offered to the tribal land owners in lieu of their land was much less compared to what being given in the developed states," the former Chief Minister alleged.

Strongly advocating the land-for-land policy, Marandi regretted the sentiment of the tribal masses was not taken into consideration before the Bill was passed.
