The defence in the RTI activist Shehla Masood murder case today alleged that a police officer helped CBI, the investigating agency, in an unauthorised manner.

During the hearing before special CBI judge Rajiv Kumar Ayachi, defence lawyer Sunil Shrivastava accused police sub-inspector Zaheer Khan of helping the Central agency without any authority.

Khan, however, denied the allegation, and told the court he had only gathered some information on the direction of a CBI official and had not conducted any probe.

The hearing was later adjourned to December 3.

Masood was shot dead in front of her house in Bhopal on August 16, 2011. According to CBI, Bhopal-based interior designer Zahida Pervez, the main accused, hatched the conspiracy to kil her as she was jealous of Shehla's alleged closeness with former BJP MLA Dhruv Narayan Singh.
