"I have spoken to the president of UDP yesterday on this issue and in the past I had written a letter seeking their support to the UPA candidate. I have also requested them to send a delegation to Guwahati," he told reporters here.
Mukul Sangma, who also urged HSPDP to come in support of P A Sangma, will attend a meeting at Guwahati tomorrow on the issue.
The UDP and the HSPDP already pledged their support to P A Sangma in view of his stand for the cause of the 'tribals' and the minority Christians.
Besides the regional parties, the state unit of the NCP also openly campaigned for P A Sangma, a Garo tribal and a politician from the northeast.
The Arunachal Congress, AGP (Assam) and the MNF (Manipur) from the region have so far come out in support of Sangma.
