A 13-year-old mentally-challenged girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour at Bambiabhai village in the district, police said today.
A complaint in this connection was lodged yesterday by the victim's father against the accused, Rajpreet Singh (22), they said.
The father said the incident came to light when he heard his daughter's cries from a neighbouring house. On going to the terrace, he found that the accused had committed the crime, police said.
Rajpreet fled the spot after he was confronted by her father, they added.
The accused has been booked after a medical examination of the victim confirmed rape, police said, adding, efforts are underway to arrest him.
