Mercury stays within normal levels in most parts of N India

It was a pleasant day in most parts of North India with temperatures remaining within comfortable limits barring Barmer in Rajasthan where mercury soared past 40 degrees Celsius.

Delhiites witnessed a sunny day with the maximum temperature recorded at a normal of 34 degrees Celsius. Minimum in the capital was registered a degree below normal at 20.3 degrees Celsius.

The local weather department said humidity wavered between 32 and 81 per cent.

States of Punjab and Haryana witnessed clear sky with their maximums settling within normal levels in most parts.

Union Territory of Chandigarh had a high of 32.5 deg C. In Punjab, Amritsar recorded maximum of 31.4 deg C, three degrees below normal while mercury in Ludhiana and Patiala settled at 31.7 deg C and 32.7 deg C mark, a degree below normal.
 

In neighbouring Haryana, Ambala, Bhiwani and Narnaul had a high of 32.6 deg C, 33.2 deg C and 34 deg C respectively while Hisar and Karnal's maximum settled at 36.1 deg C and 31.5 deg C.

The weather department in Jaipur said dry weather conditions persisted in most parts of Rajasthan barring Udaipur division where isolated pockets gauged light rains.

Barmer recorded a high of 40.4 deg C.

Mercury in western districts of Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, and Churu was recorded between 37.1 and 40 degree C.
