Stating that "most of the crimes are committed by migrants", Goa Deputy Chief Minister Francis D'Souza said migration in the state is a "difficult issue" to handle.

"Migration in Goa is a difficult issue to handle. It is also contributing to the crime graph. Most of the crimes are committed by migrants," D'Souza said while addressing a function organised by Travel and Tourism Association of Goa last evening.

"It is one of the issues that is troubling the government," he said.

D'Souza said the state government needs to make efforts to ensure safety of the tourists who arrive here.

Asserting that the government and tourism stakeholders of Goa should be sensitive towards the tourism industry, he said, "The smallest thing that happens in Goa becomes a big news, international news. You can't stop it."

"But we will have to take care that the news (of crime or mishap) doesn't happen," D'Souza said.
