Minister asks Odisha varsities to focus on quality

Universities in Odisha should formulate modalities to produce students of high standard for improved performance in all India competitive examinations, state's Higher Education Minister Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy said here today.

Performance of Odiya students at different all India examinations was not satisfactory. It's high time universities took remedial measures so that the students could meet new challenges and establish themselves in the changed global scenario, he said.

Stating that without quality education, a good, vibrant and healthy society could not be imagined, the minister said the education system should be formulated in a manner keeping in view different aspects of the situation.
 

The education system has been changing and it should be formulated based on factors relating to socio-economic and political situations, he said.

The minister was here to attend the 17th foundation day ceremony of North Odisha University.

Noted artist Jatin Das, Kendriya Sahitya Academy awardee Damayanti Besra (from Mayurbhanj district) and educationist Pandit Madan Mohan Mishra and journalist Arun Panda (from Keonjhar district) were felicitated on the occasion.
