Minor raped by 27-year-old neighbour

A 9-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Shastri Nagar area here, the police said.

The incident took place last night when the minor, a fruit vendor's daughter, was alone at her house, police said.

According to the police, Ramu Kashyap (27) attacked the minor when her parents were not in the house. He allegedly raped her and fled.

The minor was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical condition.

"A case under the POCSO Act has been registered against the accused following a complaint by the family members of the victim", police said, adding, "further investigation is on".
