A baby ghariyal that went missing two days ago from the local zoo was today captured and put back in its habitat, an official said.
The 8-month-old ghariyal was captured from Gangaurghat in the Khan river, one km from the zoo, a Forest Department official said.
It possibly sneaked out of the water body where it lives when it was being cleaned. Thereafter, it might have escaped from a hole in the fencing of the water body and entered the nullah (drain) in the zoo via which it reached Gangaurghat, said Uttam Yadav, in-charge of the Indore Municipal Corporation-run Kamla Nehru Zoo.
The ghariyal went missing on September 4.
