Opposition Mizo National Front Youth workers today set on fire the copy of the recent order of south Mizoram's Lunglei district Deputy Commissioner warning closed relatives of government employees from indulging in anti-government activity including agitation.
MNF Youth president K Vanlalvena accused the Congress government in the state of acting like a military junta by suppressing individual rights and liberties of people.
Vanlalvena said that the state government had warned government servants not to participate in agitation against wine shops, and even disallowed college authorities to invite politicians to give lectures to college students.
"When Opposition leaders were not allowed to address college students, the ministers, parliamentary secretaries and the ruling legislators freely talked about politics in the colleges," he alleged.
