MP govt calls for 'planned action' in illegal mining cases

As part of a concrete plan, Secretary of Mineral Resources Shailendra Singh issued the instructions here last evening which included that state officials be henceforth accompanied by police officers when visiting the sites.

Also, mining inspectors must wear uniforms while they are on duty, he said.

The instructions come in the wake of reported incidents where state government officers and employees were allegedly misbehaved with and were physically assaulted at illegal mining sites.
