Narcotics seized in Jammu

Jammu and Kashmir police today arrested a person and recovered 35 kg of poppy straw from him, an official said.

"Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a car on the National Highway in Udhampur and recovered 35 kg of poppy straw stacked in gunny bags," he said.

The accused has been identified as Romi Gupta, a resident of Udhampur, said the official, adding that a case under various sections of the NDPS Act have been registered at police station Udhampur.

In another operation, police recovered around 2.25 quintal poppy straw from inside a truck in Nagrota area of Jammu district last night, said the official.
