UPA ally Nationalist Congress Party today announced the formation of a manifesto committee headed by union minister Praful Patel for Lok Sabha elections due by May next year.

The extended working committee of NCP met under the chairmanship of its president Sharad Pawar who made the announcement after deliberations with party colleagues, its spokesperson D P Tripathi told reporters.

The committee comprises Tripathi and Majid Memon among others.

NCP, whose influence is largely limited to Maharashtra where it shares power with Congress, also decided to fight a limited number of Lok Sabha seats.

"State presidents have been sent the list of seats where they believe party should contest elections. We will take a decision afterward," he said.
