NEXT, water problems to figure in Special session of Pondy

Issues relating to water conservation and Centre's proposed National Exit Test (NEXT) for final year MBBS students are likely to come up for discussion in the two-day special session of Puducherry Assembly beginning Monday.

The session has been reconvened by Speaker V P Sivakolundhu and official sources said it would discuss issues relating to water conservation and water management in the Union Territory, official sources said.

Chief Minister V Narayanasamy had taken strong exception to the National Medical Commission bill, which envisages NEXT,

saying the initiative was a clear infringement on the rights of the states.
