NHRC receives complaints of land grabbing by upper castes

In the two-day programme, which concluded today, NHRC also received complaints of unsociability and partisan and indifferent attitude of police towards dalits, officials said.

NHRC chairperson K G Balakrishnan told reporters the commission is visiting various states to have a first hand knowledge of the ground reality with regard to the problems being faced by SCs and STs.

This is the fourth such programme organised by NHRC, which had conducted public hearing in Odisha, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.
