The Himachal Pradesh government today said the flow of funds to the Tribal Sub-Plan has increased over the last five years and presently nine per cent has been earmarked for it.
The size of the plan has increased fromRs 333 crore in 2012-13 to Rs 468 crore for 2016-17, an official spokesman said.
The state government has a Rs 25 crore provision under the Border Area Development Scheme in this fiscal while Rs 43.70 crore was spent on transport, Rs. 49.09 crore on roads and bridges and Rs 59.45 crore on construction of houses in the last three financial years, the spokesman said.
To implement the Scheduled Tribes and other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006, at the earliest, the government has constituted monitoring committees at the state, district and sub-division levels, he said
Besides, 16,707 forest right committees have also been constituted at the village-level.
The state government has accorded priority toopening and upgrading educational, health and other institutions besides giving thrust on roads, irrigation schemes and other civic amenities, the spokesman said.
A mini secretariat has been constructed at Pooh, a helipad at Chango and HRTC sub-depot at Pangi. The bed capacity at Reckong Peo Regional hospital was enhanced to 125 and CHC Kaza, Bharmaur and Kilar have been upgraded to civil hospitals, he said
In order to provide specialist medical services in the Lahaul and Spiti districts, tele-medicine centres in their regional hospitals, the spokesman said.
To make Tribal Sub Plan more need based and practical decentralised planning process in Scheduled Areas Integrated Tribal development projects has been started, he said.
