Taking strong exception to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's suggestion of forming an Infrastructure Development Fund (IDF), Noida residents today protested the move and demanded that city's funds should not be diverted to other parts of the state.

"Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway are self sustained cities. Authorities generate their own funds for development. If city's funds are diverted for infrastructure funds then city's development will be affected," former Noida MLA Nawab Singh Nagar said.

The CM had said that in order to ensure development of the entire state, the state government had decided to set up an Infrastructure Development Fund (IDF) which would be financed by excess resources available with some of the richer development authorities like Noida, greater noida and Lucknow development authorities.

Meanwhile, Noida MLA Dr Mahesh Sharma has written to Yadav requesting to utilise the city's funds for development here itself.

Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Association President N P Singh, social worker B P Aggarwal, BJP leader Harish Thakur among others attended the meeting held here and decided give a memorandum authority chairman next week.
