Odisha Police has sought the cooperation of television actress Mahika Sharma in the investigation into alleged eve-teasing during her visit to Puri during 'Rath Jatra' on July 14.
The police contacted the actress after she narrated her ordeal on social media platform, Instagram. I
Sharma had alleged that some unknown persons passed lewd remarks against her, while she was en route to the Jagannath Temple at 6 am.
In her post on Instagram, she also said that she did not lodge any complaint with the police. "Lord Jagannath will give me justice."
Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi said police has sent a message on Instagram to the TV actress, asking for details on when and where the incident had taken place, and what led to it.
"We have also asked for her telephone number so that the police would record her statement. We will examine the CCTV footage. Police has taken the matter seriously and stern action will be taken against the anti-socials if the allegations are found to be true," Sarangi said.
