On-duty cops injured after car hits them on Pune-Mumbai e-way

Two highway police personnel, who were carrying out a special drive, and a government officer were today injured after a car allegedly hit them on the Pune-Mumbai expressway near Lonavala, police said.

Rekha Shah was travelling in her car from Mumbai and hit policemen Kailash Ramchandra Kadam and Shivanand Mosalgi near Malavali on the highway while they were issuing fines to vehicles for lane splitting under Malavali over bridge on expressway, an inspector at Lonavala police station said.

She hit the two personnel and jumped the road divider and rammed into another car coming from Pune, the officer said.

In the mishap, government official from Town Planning department Chandrakant Shinde was also hurt.
 

All three injured persons have been shifted to nearby hospital and the process of registering the complaint against the woman was being initiated, he said.
