One arrested for carrying heroin worth Rs 77,000

A person carrying twenty-two grams of heroin was arrested by anti-narcotic squad of Mizoram Excise and Narcotics Department in a joint operation with the anti-drug squad of leading NGO Young Mizo Association.

Officials said the seized contraband was valued at around Rs 77,000 and was reportedly smuggled in from Myanmar.

The 34-year-old accused, resident of Salem locality here, was arrested in connection with the seizure which took place last night.

The accused was booked under sections of Narcotic Drugs and psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, they added.
