One person was killed and two others were injured when the motorbike in which they were travelling crashed into a divider near Uluberia today, a police officer said.
The accident occured at Neemdighi area under Uluberia police station when the three youths, aged between 20 and 22 years, were returning from Tulsiberia to Uluberia town, a distance of about 20 km, on a motorbike without helmets, the officer said.
The three had gone to Tulsiberai to attend a puja ceremony.
As the bike hit the divider, the three youths fell into a drain. One of them died on the spot, while two others were rushed to a nearby hospital where the condition of one was stated to be serious, the officer said.
One of the youths has been shifted to a hospital in Kolkata for further treatment, the officer said.
