One person shot dead

in Sarpataha police station area of this district, police said here.

Ramesh Tewari (34), known as Guruji, was sitting outside his house in Unchgaon area along with family members when two motorcycle-borne youths in police uniform came and opened fire injuring him and his brother, Superintendent of Police Manjil Saini said.

Tewari was rushed to Sultanpur hospital where doctors declared him dead, the SP said, adding, his brother has been referred to SGPGI, Lucknow.

Investigations are on to ascertain the cause of the crime, the SP added.
