Nepal government is in favour of holding meaningful dialogue with opposition parties to end the political stalemate over the Constitution-drafting process, a senior Nepali Congress leader today said.
"The opposition parties should cooperate with the ruling alliance so as to forge consensus on the key issues of the Constitution," Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel told reporters in Chitawan district in central Nepal.
He asked the opposition parties to sort out differences by holding intra-party discussions.

Poudel said that no agreement could be signed by putting the democracy at stake, and added that the government is seriously working for promulgating the new Constitution at the earliest possible time.
He said the new Constitution would be promulgated soon if the opposition parties show positive attitude and assured that demands of all sides would be addressed.
