With a view to ensure cleanliness at public places in the national capital, the Urban Development Ministry is planning to come out with a 'standard operating procedure' for organisers of public events to ensure cleanliness is maintained during and after such gatherings.
In a meeting chaired by Urban Development Secretary Madhusudan Prasad, the issue of keeping public places clean under 'Swachh Bharat Mission' was discussed in detail with senior officials from the ministry, various municipal bodies of Delhi and Delhi Police.
It was decided during the meeting that as part of the standard operating procedure (SOP), organisers of the public mettings will be required to ensure cleanliness, a senior UD Ministry official said.

Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth, who had held a meeting in this regard last month, had asked the UD Ministry to come out with SOP to ensure cleanliness.
"In order to enforce this, organisers will be required to deposit a certain amount of caution money in their respective civic bodies like NDMC, three municipal bodies of Delhi and DDA on whose property such public meetings are held.
"If organisers fail to ensure cleanliness, the respective municipal bodies will undertake cleanliness operation, using the deposited money by the organiser. The organiser has to ensure complete cleanliness of the area after the event is over," the official said.
The amount to be deposited and other operational details will be announced after the proposal approved by the Ministry.
